<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I'm back! I don't know how long it's been since I last wrote a blog post, but I know it's been a really long time. Life has been busy, university has taken over amongst other things. If you want to see what I've been up to over the last year, you can go and check out my Instagram or Twitter as I've still been using those platforms. But I do still want to try to blog, and so today I thought I'd talk about the make-up products I love using now the weather has been a lot warmer.
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">First up is the Collection Primed & Ready Primer. I always use a primer before applying foundation as my skin can be quite oily and if I don't then my make-up is prone to slowly melting off during the day, especially in the sun. This one is also 'powered by Witch' to keep the skin clear. As it is a silicone primer which doesn't feel all that natural, it's nice to know it's still good for my skin. Next is the Rimmel Match Perfection Concealer. This is new to my collection, and I have it in the lightest shade. I use this just under my eyes to give a nice brightening look.
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Then I have the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in the shade Istanbul. I only bought this the other week but I already love it! It's a pretty pink colour and goes on really creamy but then dries down to a matte finish. I've tended to lean more towards matte lips recently so I've loved using this. A product that I've loved for a while now is the Rimmel Brow This Way in Medium Brown. I've stopped filling in my brows with pencil as I just found it started to look too over the top, and so now I just use this to give my brows a natural but still full look. I honestly wouldn't go back to how I did them before, this takes all of two minutes and I love the outcome.
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Next is a new blusher for me, the Max Factor Creme Puff Blush in Lovely Pink. I've used my Nars blush religiously for about a year now but I've started switching it out occasionally for this one and I really like it. It gives a subtle pink glow to the cheeks, perfect for summer. And lastly is another cheeks product which is probably one of my favourite products in the whole of my collection - the Sleek Highlighting Palette in Solstice. I tend to use the cream and pink shades and mix them together and they make for such a gorgeous highlighter look. They have a few different variations of this palette and I'd definitely recommend them.
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I hope you enjoyed my first post back in a while. If it goes down well, I have some plans for other posts I could do, such as university related ones. Let me know what you think!Sophiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08134306274600619207noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6050292511731483137.post-90821837641678120802016-07-31T04:47:00.000-07:002016-07-31T04:47:28.444-07:00Crete Photo Diary

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">As I usually do, I wanted to put together a photo diary from my recent trip abroad, this time to Crete. The only time I'd been here before was when I was little so it was interesting to come back again.
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">The weather was always hot and the food was amazing. However, my favourite part was definitely getting to go parasailing on the beach! This has always on my bucket list and it was an incredible experience, I'd definitely recommend giving it a go. Another highlight of the holiday was being upgraded to our own villa for free, with our own pool! This had never happened before so it was a real treat for the last few days of our stay.
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Have you ever been to Greece?Sophiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08134306274600619207noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6050292511731483137.post-89736642982773908072016-06-12T05:12:00.001-07:002016-06-12T05:12:49.470-07:00New Drugstore Make-up Purchases

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">My blog posts have been a bit random recently, but today I wanted to talk about beauty, specifically some new make-up bits that I've found in the drugstore recently.
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Bourjois Air Mat Foundation: Matte foundations are definitely the face products I reach for the most as my skin can get quite shiny throughout the day. As I love Bourjois, when I saw this new release I just had to give it a go. I chose the lightest shade which is pretty much spot on for me, and I really like the formula too. It takes a bit of blending in, but once applied it stays in place for ages. If you're a fan of the matte finish like me, I'd definitely recommend this product!
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Seventeen Stay Time Concealer: I've actually repurchased this concealer recently as I absolutely love it. I don't usually buy from Seventeen but I'm definitely tempted to try more from them after liking this concealer so much. It's the perfect concealer for under the eyes and on blemishes and gives a good amount of coverage.
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">NYX Butter Gloss: I was super excited to see that Boots now stock NYX, and this was the first product that I've ever bought from them. I've used it a couple of times and so far I really like it - the formulation is very creamy and glossy. The shade I got is a pastel pink which I think is perfect for summer.
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">NYX Micro Brow Pencil: After using Soap & Glory brow products for ages, I wanted to try something a bit different and so decided to pick up one from NYX. I chose the shade Ash Brown, which is slightly darker than the brown pencil from Soap & Glory but very similar in consistency and how it applies. At £7 it's also cheaper so I might end up switching to this one now!
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Rimmel Wake Me Up Mascara: I needed to pick up a new mascara and wanted an affordable one, so I decided to buy this one from Rimmel. I've never used a Rimmel mascara before, and so far I quite like it but probably not as much as my usual ones. The brush is a different shape, but also I find it doesn't do a lot for my lashes in terms of lengthening them. I'm going to let it dry out a bit first and see if I like it more then, but for now I probably wouldn't repurchase it.
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

What have you picked up from the drugstore recently?Sophiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08134306274600619207noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6050292511731483137.post-44200749118035993332016-05-10T09:46:00.001-07:002016-05-10T09:46:49.287-07:00Eloquence Skincare

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">A little while ago I was kindly sent some skincare products* to try out from the brand Eloquence. They're a luxury skincare brand and sent me a set of five different items - a few of the products contain collagen and so are good for anti-ageing, however I personally wasn't too fussed about this.
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">My favourite product is probably the Protect & Repair 24hr Cream. I was getting a bit tired of my usual moisturiser anyway and found that it wasn't rich enough, but was so impressed by this! It sinks in quickly and leaves my skin feeling smooth, and also has a nice scent. It also comes with a pump which I found handy and hygienic. The other product I adored was the Purifying Facial Cleanser, and I went through it so fast! This cleanser does exactly what it says - it gives a deep, clarifying cleanse and leaves your face feeling purified. I honestly loved using it and definitely noticed a difference in the condition of my skin.
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I wasn't sure how I'd get on with the serum as it's not usually a product that I would use, especially as it was firming, but I found it was a nice occasional addition to my routine if my skin felt like it needed something extra. It was the same with the eye gel - again not something I would normally reach for. However, I found it really refreshing and actually enjoyed using it. Lastly is the Nourishing Treatment Oil. It says you can use it on skin, hair and nails but I mostly stuck to using it on my body. I'm not used to applying oils as I'll usually use lotions or body butters but I really like how moisturising it is. I do generally have quite dry skin so I'll definitely crack this out when I want to use something a bit richer.
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Overall, I've loved trying out these new skincare products and many made it into my daily routine. I'd recommend checking out the brand if you haven't already as they have a great range to choose from.Sophiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08134306274600619207noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6050292511731483137.post-67315332756375108712016-02-14T07:26:00.000-08:002016-02-14T07:26:52.595-08:00Studying Public Relations at Uni

As I've mentioned before, I'm currently in my first year of university studying Public Relations (which is why I've been a bit absent from blogging lately). Anyway, I wanted to talk about my subject on here, as it's becoming a more popular course, especially since the rise of blogging/online media.

Obviously the course will be different depending on which university you go to, but most will have similarities. I've completed the first term and am now onto my second one, meaning I have had the chance to experience a lot of modules and can hopefully shed some light on what it's actually like to study PR. PR isn't familiar to a lot of people, so unlike a traditional course such as English or History, you generally have to give a bit of an explanation of what's involved. For me, it's mainly about managing the reputation of a company or individual by building relationships with the public.

At my university, year one gives you quite a broad outlook on a variety of subjects, some more directly relevant to PR than others. For instance, the module 'Introduction to PR' gave us lots of information about the industry, whereas 'Public Administration' lets us learn more about politics and current affairs, which you still need an interest in but may not use specifically in your future career. A key part of our course is that we receive a lot of education about journalism too, as it's part of the same school as PR. I would say this has had a mixed reaction, but all in all it's been interesting to see 'how the other half lives', for example getting to use a variety of media equipment.

Exam wise, it's very different from what I'm used to. I would say my strength lies in written exams, whilst PR tends to rely more on coursework. Whilst I knew this was coming, I've definitely had to adapt. So far, we've written essays, had in-class tests, done presentations and put together portfolios of creative work. We've even run the social media on one of the university's events. I've actually enjoyed this type of assessment as it ultimately allows you to be more creative.

Overall, I'm really liking my course so far. As PR is still new to the academic world, our course is really small which allows us to all get to know each other well. This may vary depending on where you go, but I would say to generally expect smaller numbers, although this may change in the upcoming years.

Hopefully I've covered the main points about studying PR, but if you have any questions feel free to leave them in the comments!Sophiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08134306274600619207noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6050292511731483137.post-82281012188649730152016-01-03T07:53:00.001-08:002016-01-03T07:53:54.214-08:00A Look Back at 2015

It's crazy to think that 2015 is over, it's honestly flown by! I've had a really great year and enjoyed some amazing experiences so today I wanted to round up just a few of the best moments.

1. Our blog meet up!
This year, Kate and I held our first blog meet up in London. Not only did I get the chance to spend some time with Kate, a long-time blogging friend, but we also got to meet some other bloggers and have a generally lovely day.

2. My last year at school & prom
I really enjoyed my final year of sixth form and was happy with the results that I came out with. Another highlight was prom - our school was decorated so prettily and it was really nice to all come together again once more before university.

3. A great summer
So many amazing things happened during summer so I summarised it into one point. Some of the most memorable things that happened were generally socialising and having fun with my friends, seeing Ed Sheeran, going to V Fest and spending a week in Greece.

4. I started uni!
This is probably my favourite part of the year, as university has been great so far. I haven't been there long but I already have so many good memories and I can't wait for it all to continue.

5. Changing my hair colour
This year I've gone from having a nearly-natural hair colour to blonde and then, most recently, to dark brown. I've loved experimenting and seeing what suits me, and I think I'm going to stick with brown for now.

What were your favourite parts of 2015?
(Side note: yes, I have changed my font. I decided the last one was too unreadable, so hopefully this works better!)Sophiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08134306274600619207noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6050292511731483137.post-33757636848877112682015-12-27T05:00:00.000-08:002015-12-27T05:00:19.629-08:00My New Hair 2015

Jumper: Topshop

I've recently fallen off the face of the blogging earth due to uni, Christmas and just being busy in general. However, things have settled down a bit now and so I'm hoping to get back into a regular blogging routine and to produce some interesting content for the new year! Let me know if you want to see anything in particular.

Anyway, onto the post. You may remember I did something similar to this about a year ago, when I changed my hair for the first time and went blonder. Since then, I've had the colour topped up once more for prom and have enjoyed having light hair a lot. Recently though, I've gotten really bored of it and fancied a big change again. I've always had the idea of going darker but wasn't sure if it would suit me or not. In the end, I decided to take the plunge and get my hair dyed a dark brown.

The hairdresser started by doing some caramel-coloured highlights throughout my hair, before applying a dark brown colour on the top and a slightly lighter shade on the ends due to the blonde I still had there. I also had a lot cut off as I prefer to have a shorter length - it's so much easier to maintain. I'm honestly so pleased with the result - it's such a refreshing change and I definitely prefer it to when I was blonde!
Before I start, I just want to say sorry for not keeping up with my blog recently. As I mentioned in my last couple of posts, I'm in my first term of university and so my life has been pretty busy. Not only that, but it's been hard to find the motivation and enough relevant content. Anyway, for now I'm back and I have a few other posts in the works so hopefully my schedule should be back to normal by Christmas.

Recently I was given the opportunity to review some photos* from the brand Cheerz. I jumped at the chance because I'd already started creating a photo wall in my uni room (the large photos in the middle are ones I printed myself). As you can see, we have pretty boring cream brick walls and so I wanted to decorate them to make the room a bit more homely. Cheerz has a really cute website with lots of products to choose from, including the ones I picked - the Strips and the Christmas Cheerz Box.

The Strips are shown in the last photo, where you get five strips with four photos on each. You can also add text at the bottom to personalise them. The Christmas Cheerz Box is a set of 30 photos, printed in an almost polaroid style and packaged in a gorgeous printed box. You can also add text to these or customise the colour of the frame but I chose to leave them plain. The quality of the product is amazing for the price - they feel really professional. You can also choose various methods of uploading your photos, including selecting them from your Instagram or Facebook account.

Overall, I really love my new photo prints as they make my wall so much more interesting and are a nice little reminder of home. If you fancy making an order yourself, you can use my code SOPMAVC to get £4 off!

Have you ever purchased any photos from Cheerz?Sophiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08134306274600619207noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6050292511731483137.post-68377260276463333562015-09-29T05:09:00.001-07:002016-09-02T11:52:56.315-07:00What I've Learnt From Freshers Week

<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Sunday 14th of September: the day I officially left home and moved up to university for the first time! The first week, or Freshers week, was pretty hectic - going out every night starts to take its toll on you after a while. Although most people have finished their Freshers week now, I thought it would be interesting to share a few things I learnt from the whole experience!
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">1. Spend time with your flatmates
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">This may sound pretty obvious, but right from the beginning I tried to constantly talk to my flatmates. Make sure you keep your door open if you can - it's much more sociable and it gives you a chance to get to know everyone rather than just sitting in your room.<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">2. Make the most of going out
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">This one varies from person to person as not everyone likes to go out all the time, but I'd definitely recommend going out as much as you can with your flatmates or whoever you're friends with as it's a great way to socialise and have fun before lessons begin.
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">3. You have to clean, and it sucks!
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I think it depends on how used to doing chores you are, but for me cleaning is probably my least favourite part of living by myself. I've pretty much managed to keep my room in an acceptable state, but sharing the kitchen with five other people means that it can get very messy! Just make sure you chip in and do your bit, otherwise you'll be living in filth!
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">4. Keep an eye on your money
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">During the chaos of Freshers week, it's easy to spend money on various things - like meals out or alcohol. Just make sure you know how much you're spending - nobody wants to be using their overdraft so soon!
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">5. Take all the opportunities you're given
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">University is all about getting involved in new things, and events like the Freshers and Societies Fayres are great ways to do this. Join clubs and sports and go to the various socials - not only is it a good way to find new interests but you're also bound to make friends too.
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Are you currently at university? What did you think of Freshers week?Sophiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08134306274600619207noreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6050292511731483137.post-51632116941987958632015-08-30T07:09:00.000-07:002015-10-28T05:20:39.848-07:00Life & Blogging Update

My blogging schedule has been a bit irregular in the past few weeks and I just wanted to write a post explaining what's been happening recently and what's going to be going on in the near future.

As you will have seen in my last few posts, I've been on holiday to both Rhodes and Cornwall with my family, from which I put together some photo diaries. Also last weekend I went to V Festival, which was an amazing experience and it meant that my last post went up a little later. There have been a few changes in my life recently and so that's why blogging has taken a bit of a back seat and the content has been a bit random! I'll be spending the next couple of weeks with my family and friends before I head off to university, although I do hope to put together some blog posts so that even if I'm busy, I can keep up my regular schedule.

As I said, I'm going to university (to study public relations) in around two weeks, which is both incredibly scary but also exciting. However, it's most likely going to make my life a bit crazy and blogging won't be my priority so don't be surprised if I disappear for a little while. Hopefully I can still blog a fair bit but posts may appear a little less often whilst I settle in. I hope you can all understand!

That pretty much sums up everything I wanted to update you on, and I'll speak to you soon in my next post!Sophiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08134306274600619207noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6050292511731483137.post-28592827463507887252015-08-24T11:18:00.000-07:002015-08-24T11:18:48.386-07:00Cornwall Photo Diary 2015

I spent the last week in Cornwall, which was surprisingly hot and sunny! Photography is obviously a part of blogging, but it's also a hobby for me and so I wanted to share some of the photos I took whilst I was there. (On a side note, sorry that all of my posts recently have been lifestyle based, I plan on writing some beauty ones again soon I promise!)

We spent the sunniest days on various beaches, and we also explored the local town and harbour. We visited this particular place last year and so it was nice to come back again and rediscover all the cute little shops. In the evenings, we often ate out - in a pub, in Rick Stein's café and in a small restaurant called Burgers and Fish. We also went on walks and fed the ducks at the local pond, whilst taking in the amazing views. It was a great holiday and a really relaxing week in general.

If you saw my last post, then you'll see that Kate and I gave out goody bags at our London Summer Meet Up recently. As we had a smaller turn out than expected, we had some left over and decided to do a giveaway to allow our readers who didn't attend to win them. I have four goody bags to give away, and so there are four chances to win! The photo above shows what comes in the goody bags (although there are variations - for example different coloured hair bands and different jewellery). We're really proud of these goody bags and I just want to say thank you again to all the brands who we worked with!
On Tuesday this week, Kate and I headed up to London for our #LDNSummerMeetUp in Covent Garden. We've been planning this for a while now and so for it to actually happen was a bit crazy, but really exciting! (Check out Kate's post here.)

Kate stayed at mine and we travelled up to London on the Tuesday morning to meet everyone. There were eight of us which went shopping in the Oxford Circus and Covent Garden area, and then two more joined for lunch. I bought lots of lovely things (although there won't be a haul as the majority was underwear!) - one product which I'm excited to try though is the Stila liquid eyeliner. We had lunch at The Diner in Covent Garden which was great - I'd eaten there at a previous meet up and so knew what to expect, and the food definitely didn't disappoint!

We stayed in London a little longer to do some more shopping - Kate and I were originally going to eat dinner at Wagamama but we were just too full from lunch! We also put together some goody bags which we gave out on the day which included products from St Moriz, Jewellery Box, Balmi, Popband, Timeless Truth and NSPA. As we had a smaller turnout than we had originally planned for, we had quite a few goody bags left over and so both Kate and I will be doing giveaways in the near future! Mine will most likely be going up next week, so keep an eye out for that.

Thank you so much to everyone who came - it was such a great day and hopefully there will be some more meet ups in the future to come to for those of you who couldn't make it!Sophiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08134306274600619207noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6050292511731483137.post-77220365581639146492015-07-26T08:44:00.000-07:002015-07-26T08:44:37.984-07:00Rhodes Video Diary 2015

As promised, here is a little video diary which I put together using short clips that I filmed whilst in Rhodes a couple of weeks ago. It's a little bit different from what I usually post, but let me know if you enjoy it! For the past week I have been on holiday in the sunny Rhodes, Greece, and as per usual I wanted to share a selection of photos which I took whilst I was there. I will also have a video diary going up as well at some point next week!

We visited a place close by a couple of years ago, and it was great to return as it's a lovely island. We stayed in a stunning hotel, as you can see by some of the photos, and also visited the town of Lindos - home to the Acropolis. We visited some local bars and restaurants, but mainly ate in the restaurant buffet at the hotel. It was super hot whilst we were there - around 32 degrees every day. The heat was nice at first but I wouldn't want to have stayed for much longer - the weather is very different from back here in Britain! Overall, I had an amazing time and if you want to see more photos from my trip, I posted regularly on my instagram.
Last night I attended my leavers prom with the rest of my year, which was held at our school. It was the final event (other than results day) with everyone getting together, so it was definitely a bit emotional at times. Although we were a bit wary of it being held at our school, the place was decorated so nicely with lots of fairy lights and drapes, which made for a stunning setting. From the free bar to the amazing fireworks display (our prom is the best), it was a great night overall and I'm going to miss everyone so much!

I chose a dress from Boohoo, as it was quite inexpensive but still really pretty, and I loved the sequins on the front. With this, I wore a pair of black strappy heels from New Look, a clutch from H&M (I didn't photograph this but it did feature in this previous blog post) and a Barry M Nail Paint in Coconut. I did my hair and make-up myself and kept things fairly simple, with a sparkly brown eye and a nude lip. I curled my hair using straighteners and pinned a couple of pieces back. I really liked how this all turned out, and it just goes to show that you don't always need everything to be professionally done!
Have you had a prom this year?Sophiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08134306274600619207noreply@blogger.com12tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6050292511731483137.post-47307425009865961082015-06-28T05:30:00.000-07:002015-06-28T05:32:11.559-07:00St Tropez Gradual Tan In Shower

I'm a bit of a tanning novice - I've never had a spray tan or used fake tan properly, I much prefer to play it safe with a gradual tan. When I heard that St Tropez had released an in shower gradual tan, I immediately went and picked it up. It promises no streaks and the fact that you can use it in the shower seems quick and easy too.

So far I've used this four times, which is enough to have seen a significant difference! You apply this after showering on damp skin, leave it three minutes and then wash it off. It's very simple and the lather it produces allow you to easily see where you've already already applied the product. I find that it has given me a natural, glowy tan that is definitely noticeable. I do have fairly pale skin though, so if you have a medium to dark complexion I'd say that this maybe isn't the product for you.

I would still recommend exfoliating/moisturising in preparation for using this, even though it's only a gradual tan, as I've found I have a couple of darker patches on the backs of my ankles. Other than that, it's given me a gorgeous, completely streak-free tan without the harmful UV rays of the sun! I'd definitely recommend trying it if you're after a natural tan that requires little effort. It's usually £14.50 but is currently on offer at Boots here.

Today I thought I'd do an outfit post - I haven't done one of these in absolutely ages (about a year actually) but now the weather's a bit warmer my garden makes a nice backdrop for the photos!
This was an outfit which I wore to my friend's party the other day - I love this black and white playsuit, which I bought from New Look quite a while ago, as it's so easy to wear. I also adore this kimono - the pattern is so pretty and I can't wait to wear it more during the summer. I paired these with a pair of black and white casual plimsoles/trainers from Topshop - these are my go to shoes as you can put them with pretty much everything!
What's your favourite thing to wear for summer?Sophiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08134306274600619207noreply@blogger.com13tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6050292511731483137.post-85489945507148416972015-06-07T04:28:00.000-07:002015-06-07T04:28:28.758-07:00Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation

When it comes to foundations, I'm the kind of person who likes to mix and match various products, and when one runs out, I'll pick up a different one to try. As I hear my friend Kate mention the Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation a lot, I thought I might as well give it a whirl.

I was a bit wary at first as the Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation which I tried ages ago caused me to break out, but so far this product has been fine on my skin. Firstly, it's cheap - at £6.99 it's nice and affordable which is a massive plus in my eyes. I love the formula of this foundation - it comes out fairly watery which makes it easy to blend in (I like to use my Real Techniques Expert Face Brush for that).

I was a little worried that I'd end up an oily mess as time went on, due to my combination skin and the fact that it has 'light perfecting radiance', but with a bit of powder it actually lasts really well throughout the day. I would say it has a medium but still natural finish that covers any redness and blemishes quite well, and I generally think it's a great product! I've only been using it for a week, but so far I'm really impressed and it's overtaken my previous face products to become part of my daily routine.

Have you ever tried this foundation? What did you think?Sophiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08134306274600619207noreply@blogger.com11tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6050292511731483137.post-70221310114986258142015-05-31T07:23:00.000-07:002015-05-31T07:23:14.025-07:00Sunday Summary

Today's post is a bit of a random, chatty one! As I've been on half term this week, it's been all about revision, but I still wanted to keep to my regular Sunday schedule so instead I thought I'd just talk about what's been going on recently.

My first exam is a week on Monday - if you didn't know, I take Spanish and Biology and so I have three exams coming up over the next couple of weeks. Because of this, it's likely that I may drop off the blogging radar soon, but once they're all out of the way I promise to make it up in terms of content. Other than constant work, I've also been doing the 30 Days of Yoga Challenge, which has kept me relaxed as well as active - I'd definitely recommend trying it out.

I also went shopping today, which was a nice break. I doubt that I'll do a haul but I picked up a few simple bits from Primark, some nice summer tops from H&M as well as some Mom shorts from Topshop. Other than that, I've become completely obsessed with Grey's Anatomy (if you follow me on Twitter I'm sure you're well aware of this fact) - I'm just about to start season 11 now! I'd 100% recommend watching it if you haven't, although if you have exams then maybe start afterwards because it often ends up distracting me from revision! Music wise, my study playlists have mainly consisted of Marina and The Diamonds' album Froot and Lana Del Rey's Ultraviolence.

What have you all been up to lately?Sophiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08134306274600619207noreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6050292511731483137.post-43000092305410021102015-05-24T05:03:00.003-07:002015-05-24T05:04:41.283-07:00New In: Proactiv+ Skincare

I recently got sent some Proactiv+ products* to try and have been using them as a part of my daily routine, and so I thought I would share my thoughts about the range. This skincare is aimed at reducing blemishes whilst still keeping the skin hydrated, which is perfect for my combination skin.

The Proactiv+ range consists of three main steps, starting with the Skin Smoothing Exfoliator. I really like this product, as it cleanses the skin as well as gently exfoliating it. It cleans the skin without being too harsh, and creates a smooth base for the rest of the products. Step two is the Pore Targeting Treatment, which is probably my favourite product out of all of them. It has a lightweight gel formula and helps clear blemishes whilst stopping new ones from forming, however I really love it because it does an amazing job at minimising pores! I've noticed a big difference since using it.

The third product in the core series is the Complexion Perfecting Hydrator. This comes out like a normal cream moisturiser but applies more like a gel, which allows it to sink in quickly and keep the skin hydrated and smooth. Lastly is an extra in the range, which is the Skin Purifying Mask. This mask is great at clearing skin to avoid blemishes, and it is also slightly exfoliating as well. I've only used this a couple of times but so far I'm impressed! The first three products all contain salicylic acid, which is the key ingredient for tackling blemishes. This makes them quite strong so I find it's best to avoid sensitive areas like around the eyes, and I also like to use an extra, more gentle moisturiser to keep my skin well hydrated. But overall, I've really enjoyed testing out this range and will continue to use it from now on.

Have you ever tried anything from this brand?Sophiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08134306274600619207noreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6050292511731483137.post-39777006531180075992015-05-17T04:25:00.001-07:002015-05-17T04:25:12.213-07:00Nails: Spring & Summer

Nails are probably my favourite part of make-up - as much as I love foundation, eyeliner and all that, I just love painting my nails. Because of this, nail polishes often make appearances on my blog - and today I thought I'd share with you my picks for spring and summer - the polishes that I would choose for this time of year.

Barry M Speedy Quick Dry in Pit Stop and Lap of Honour - I talked about these in a recent post so I won't ramble on too much but these are my new favourite nail polishes! Not only do I love the colours, but the formula is amazing and very quick drying - plus it comes with a really wide brush.

Max Factor Gel Shine Lacquer in Glazed Cobalt - Until recently, I hadn't tried that many Max Factor polishes but I'm actually really impressed with this range due to the shiny, gel-like finish. For the warmer months, I often wear bright blues - and I think this would be a nice evening shade.

Rimmel 60 Seconds in District-ly Come Dancing - I talk about Rimmel quite a lot on here as I love their products, and their nail polishes are no exception. Their 60 Seconds polishes are some of my favourites, and this bright green/blue is a great colour for spring/summer!

Essie in Splash of Grenadine - It's not summer without this classic Essie shade! I'm not usually one for warmer colours, but this purple is so pretty and it looks great with a tan. Also, Essie formulas are great and their brushes are wide too which makes for easy application.

Bourjois in Lavande Esquisse and Ciel Mon Vernis - I mentioned in another post how much I like Bourjois' face and lip products, but they also have some great nail offerings! I picked a couple of shades from them - a true purple and also a really pretty pale blue. I would definitely recommend trying out some of Bourjois' nail polishes as they seem quite underrated but they're amazing!
What are your favourite nail polishes for this time of year?Sophiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08134306274600619207noreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6050292511731483137.post-45441063159658455052015-05-10T09:29:00.002-07:002015-05-10T09:29:25.453-07:00Exam Tips | Stress, Revision & Staying Organised

With exam season under way/on the way for some of us, I thought I'd do something a little bit different today and share some of my tips for dealing with exams in general - from handling stress to how to stay organised.

1. Give yourself a break
Dealing with exams and revision can be really stressful, so it's important to take time out and have a break now and again. It may seem like you need to cram in revision, but if you do too much at once you'll end up stressed and tired which isn't going to help when it comes to taking the actual exam!

2. Colour coding & revision layout
If you're a visual learner like me, then colour coding is your best friend! Highlighters are essential, and I find using different colours for different things really useful as it helps me remember them better. Similarly, layout can be really important - rather than just writing things in a boring list, try using mind maps or diagrams and stick them up on a wall you look at often.

3. Keep a diary/timetable
In exam season, it can be easy to just say that you'll revise, without mentioning any specifics. I find that this makes it easier to just put it off and procrastinate - if you have a specific timetable then it makes sure you stick to it, and using a diary helps you keep on track of what you still need to do.

4. Take advantage of resources
Make use of whatever you can - go to revision sessions put on by your teachers, use all the documents they put on your school website and work together with your friends so that you have all the notes you need. This way, you can have lots of different resources available to you rather than just your own revision which can get a bit repetitive if it's all you use.

5. Past papers are your friend
Past papers can get boring really quickly and it's easy to just skip to the mark scheme for answers, but they're super useful because they tell you what you know and what you need to go over. You can also make use of the mark scheme as it's helpful to see how the exam board wants you to word you answers. And don't forget, some exams come with an examiner's report that lets you know where past students went wrong.

I hope you found these tips useful, and good luck if you have exams on the way! Feel free to leave any of your own tips in the comments below.Sophiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08134306274600619207noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6050292511731483137.post-378874203414210532015-05-03T08:31:00.001-07:002015-05-03T08:31:06.582-07:00Bourjois Rouge Edition: Velvet and Aqua Laque

If it seems like I talk about Bourjois a lot on here, it's because I do! I'm not sponsored by them or anything, I honestly just love the brand - in particular their face and lip products. The Rouge Edition Velvets have been a blogger favourite for a while now, and Bourjois have also recently released a new line called Aqua Laque.

I have three of the Rouge Edition Velvets in the shades So Hap'pink, Nude-ist and Pink Pong. They have a super matte finish which I love, especially with the bright colours, as you don't want them smearing throughout the day. I tend to use a lip liner before applying any of these as I find it makes it easier, and then I dab some of the product on using my fingers. Their longevity is amazing - I've worn these on a nine hour shift at work before, and whilst they need the occasional touch up, the colour still lasts all day. So Hap'pink is one of their newer shade releases, but I actually think that Pink Pong has been my most worn colour!

I also picked up one of their new Rouge Edition Aqua Laques in the shade Feeling Reddy. These have a much glossier, more shiny finish than the others and so I was a bit unsure at first, especially as I had chosen a bright colour. Like with the Velvets, I like to apply this with my finger - although with this I prefer to use quite a small amount to give a stain rather than an opaque finish. As they're fairly watery, I find that this works better as otherwise they can be quite transferrable and so need lots of touch ups. Longevity wise, the colour lasts for quite a while but not as long as the Velvet range.

Have you ever tried either of these products? What did you think of them?Sophiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08134306274600619207noreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6050292511731483137.post-65288015035239762592015-04-26T05:11:00.001-07:002015-04-26T05:11:47.416-07:00Weekend Wishlist | Summer Loving
