Drugstore Nail Polish Comparison

Before I get on with the post, I just want to say sorry for not being very active on the blog front recently! I've had a lot of coursework and stress at school, which obviously comes first, but I will try and keep on top of my blog as well.
Anyway - it seems like ages since I've done a straight forward beauty post, and so today I decided to compare my favourite nail polish offerings from the drugstore.

Barry M: This is probably one of your cheapest options on the market, and they sell a huge variety of colours and finishes. Some of my favourite colours come from their Gelly range which are super shiny (I especially love Guava), however their normal line is still worth giving a go too. The lasting time isn't the best, but for the price you can't really go wrong.

Bourjois: Bourjois nail polishes are a new discovery for me, but so far I'm loving them. I've tried both the So Laque! range and the 1 Seconde polishes, though I would say they're both fairly similar. One of my favourite features is the wide brush that makes for easy application, although the lasting power again isn't great! They're slightly pricier than Barry M, but I personally really like their colour range - I would happily buy them all.

Rimmel: Ahh, Rimmel. These are probably my favourite nail polishes from the drugstore! The range of colours is great, the drying time is fast, they have a thick brush AND I can go for around five days without chipping. What more could you want?

Revlon: Revlon is fairly new to me, as I haven't tried a huge amount of polishes from them, however the ones that I do own I really like! They have a thinner brush but one that still works well, and the formulation is lovely - I love how it applies.

Essie: Essie is on the pricier end of the scale, but I'd definitely still classify it as drugstore. They have one of the biggest colour ranges I know, and they also come with a nice, thick brush too. I find that generally I have to apply at least 3 coats for it to be opaque, but the lasting power is decent and overall I would say they are worth the money.

Models Own: Lastly is Models Own. I have a few different polishes from them, all of which I was really impressed with. Again, the shade range is amazing - if you want a particular colour, they most likely have it. They do have a thinner brush though, although this doesn't bother me too much, and they can go a fair while without chipping.

Hopefully this helped any of you looking to update your nail polish collection for Spring and Summer! I know I haven't included all of the drugstore brands (that would be near impossible), but I may do a part 2 in the future if this one goes down well.
What's your favourite make of nail polish?

  1. There are so many great nail polish brands in all price ranges. One of my favorites is definitely the Sally Hansen Salon Manicure formula - it's amazing, long wearing and the range of shades is fab :o) Xx

  4. No worries! Life gets in the way, so we all get busy :)
I have allllways wanted to try those Barry M Gelly Polishes! They always look so shiny on all of the blog posts I read. I think Essie definitely has a lot of color range, but I don't like how you have to do 3 coats. I get lazy! Haha

  5. I love Barry M, although I'd love to try out some polishes from a few other brands. I have tried a Rimmel polish and it was really nice and didn't chip for quite awhile! May have to try out some more x
